OS User-Level Communication Software

Processes on a different central processing units (CPUs) on a multicomputer system communicate just by sending the messages to one another.

Therefore in simplest form, this message passing is basically exposed to the user processes.

Or, you can say that the OS provides a way to send/receive messages, and library procedures makes these underlying calls available to the user processes.

Or you can also say that the actual or real message passing is hidden from the users just by making the remote communication that look like a procedure call.
